FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 21, 2007 Murphy Power Ignition Releases New Ignition Control Display with More Programming Options, Detailed Engine Profiles and Higher Resolution (Tulsa, OK – March 21, 2007) FW Murphy has released an updated user interface for its product line of ignition controllers. The Murphy Power Ignition Display features several more programming options than were seen in previous Murphy power ignition products, along with an enhanced screen display. "This is a major investment in our power ignition line," said Darrell Schmitt, territory sales manager at Murphy. "We're not only giving the product a facelift, but we're also giving our customers new tools to fully customize their ignition installations." New software included with the MPI Display allows an unprecedented level of user-friendly customization, Schmitt said. Users will be able to change any editable parameter, including overspeed, cylinder firing angles, number of cylinders and CAM reference method. A major innovation in the MPI Prog software is the ability to save multiple engine profiles on their hard drive and save up to 4 custom engine profiles on the display itself. Users will be able to build an engine profile at one location, then upload it to ignition controllers at other locations with just a few clicks. "This is an incredibly easy way to standardize the fleet," said Schmitt. "Although all the programming can still be done through the keypad on the new display, users that have access to a laptop can use an even easier interface through the MPI Prog software option," added Schmitt. The MPI Display features eight lines of text with a higher screen resolution of 124x64, which allows graphics to be added to the interface. Previous versions of Murphy's ignition controllers featured four lines of text and allowed programming only through the included keypad. The new display includes a USB port to allow programming by laptop. The display will include a copy of “MPI Prog,” software developed by Murphy to allow edits through a graphic interface. The new display is now included on the MPI-8, MPI-16 and MPI-32 ignition controllers. It is also being offered as a remote display. In addition to the updated user interface, Murphy will also be offering ignition controllers in a stainless steel option for end users in corrosive environments such as offshore and H2S locations.
