Murphy Power Ignition Announces Latest ‘Smart Coil’ product
(Tulsa, OK – September 20, 2004) Murphy Power Ignition, a manufacturer of full authority engine ignition systems, has announced the latest addition to its line of products.
The IT-250 and IT-250FM are updated versions of the MPI Smart Coil™ Ignition Coils, designed specifically for two-cycle engines and with significantly higher voltage. The IT-250 is open style, while the IT-250FM is a flange mount version.
" This new coil was made to handle the high demand these engines put on coils and spark plugs," said Steve Nussbaum, developer of the MPI ignition. "Increasing the output voltage allows the spark plug to operate for many more hours and provide highly stable ignition over the full life of the plug.”
The MPI Smart coil line features 7 coil styles including, open mount (non-haz), flange mount (non-haz), shielded (CSA) and Integrals (CSA). More styles are in the design stage. The smart coil technology features a patented secondary sense lead that allows in-depth diagnostics to be performed and provide accurate spark plug breakdown voltage readings per plug during operation. These coils can also be used with other industrial ignition systems that operate between 150-300 volts on the primary.
MPI’s other products include microprocessor-based controllers to complete ignition systems, detonation sensing systems, power supplies and cables/harnesses. MPI's integrated solutions are designed to give operators more information and control of engine/driver applications, and improve the operation of natural gas-powered engines.
